About Us

Lethbridge Sport Council is a not-for-profit organization incorporated in 2008 under the Societies Act of Alberta. Lethbridge Sport Council is an independent body supported by the City of Lethbridge, governed by a 15-member volunteer Board of Directors, and managed by three full-time staff dedicated to support the enhancement and development of sport within the Lethbridge community.

Lethbridge Sport Council’s provides leadership for the enhancement and development of sport, sport organizations, and sport events in Lethbridge fostering inclusive and quality sport experiences for all. Lethbridge Sport Council assists sport organizations and individuals by linking them to, and providing them with, sport and sport business-related education, support services and linkages to the community. Lethbridge Sport Council also provides input and guidance to the development of sport and recreation needs in the Municipal Capital Improvement Program and the Operating Budget.

Lethbridge Sport Council advocates for sport and provides a local voice for sport provincially and nationally. It promotes the development of sport leadership and organizational growth, coaches, officials, and volunteers. The advancement of physical literacy for all ages through education, promotion of Sport for Life, and development and utilization of programs throughout a person’s lifespan is a key focus for Lethbridge Sport Council.
